The idea for the business was conceived on Darren’s 1986 European cultural tour with close friend and former work colleague Tim. The two spent the spring of 1987 personally shop fitting their first store using borrowed tools and family savings. The foundation of the business was hard work and the strong family values instilled in the two founders. After only 6 months and already trading at a profit the business moved into the Abbeygate premises where it still operates today.
